Bringing gold to India — airport rules

The current verified India rule records a jewellery allowance for an eligible passenger who meets the residence-abroad condition: up to 40 g for a female passenger and 20 g for another eligible passenger. Bullion is not included in that jewellery allowance. A separate conditional route for up to 1 kg is not a general allowance; eligibility, declaration and payment conditions must be checked separately.

This is a shopping-planning summary, not a customs eligibility or duty decision. Check the current notification for the exact passenger, journey and product form.

Tourist tips for India & Kuwait

🇮🇳 India

  • Check the current BIS hallmarking rule and verify the article's identifiers using the official BIS guidance or app before purchase.
  • The GoldJaanch reference rate is national; an individual shop quote can differ.
  • Use the Bill Calculator as an estimate and compare it with an itemised shop quote.

🇰🇼 Kuwait

  • Kuwaiti dinar prices may use three decimals; confirm the quoted purity and unit.
  • Ask for making and other charges in writing rather than assuming a market-wide range.
  • Cross-check the quote with each dated source row and note any failed or stale refresh.
