Bringing gold to India — airport rules
The current verified India rule records a jewellery allowance for an eligible passenger who meets the residence-abroad condition: up to 40 g for a female passenger and 20 g for another eligible passenger. Bullion is not included in that jewellery allowance. A separate conditional route for up to 1 kg is not a general allowance; eligibility, declaration and payment conditions must be checked separately.
This is a shopping-planning summary, not a customs eligibility or duty decision. Check the current notification for the exact passenger, journey and product form.

Tourist tips for India & Singapore
🇮🇳 India
- Check the current BIS hallmarking rule and verify the article's identifiers using the official BIS guidance or app before purchase.
- The GoldJaanch reference rate is national; an individual shop quote can differ.
- Use the Bill Calculator as an estimate and compare it with an itemised shop quote.
🇸🇬 Singapore
- Do not infer tax treatment from a 999 purity label; check the exact product against the current linked official rule.
- Use Mustafa's dated board as this page's reference, then compare the seller's exact product and fees.
- A tourist-refund estimate appears only while the eTRS registry rule is current; confirm the participating retailer and current official steps.
